Surf Kite and Wingfoil School

We had three training sessions, 3h each. Edu, our trainer, did a very good job, teaching us the basics of kite surfing. Throughout all the course, he emphasized the safety keypoints. On the third day, the wind was allowing for a double session to compensate for the day before when we had to abort the session due to the wind developing badly. At the end of the course we were going for waterstarts. It was a great experience. Thanks very much to Edu and Epic.

I had a lot of fun during the course. Our instructor‘s name was Edu and he was a very cool guy. I learned the basics to kiting and was close to the waterstart when the course ended. The equipment was very good, for example different sizes of kites, the different boards ( i only saw the boards inside of the school and one in the training ) leashes of the bar and helmets. One of the first things we learned were the safety’s, so we where safe from anything that could happen during the course.

High winds on Caleta beach made conditions challenging, but good instructions got us through to learn how to surf on waves. Helpful to be offered showering facilities too (which is unusual on this beach).

Aldo and Alex were great instructors, with a good focus on the fundamentals. They tailor their instruction to each student's needs. I would definitely recommend them for anyone looking to get into kitesurfing and also for people looking to improve their kitesurfing level.

For learning, it's a great advantage that this school allocates no more than 2 students per instructor. Most of my (5) days I had private lessons as a result, focused and continuous, no waiting or sharing. That said, autonomy is trained, so you quickly also are a lot by yourself, preparing your kite, getting off into the water, etc. Inherently, it might be less social than you might imagine, meeting fellow students only briefly at the beginning and end of the session. Instruction was clear, accurate, with plenty of time for questions, personal feedback. I might have liked just a little more theory and maybe a few preparatory procedure exercises on the beach (if security allowed), but that's a personal preference. After all, all the hours you get on/in the water repeating is where you really learn, so it's good to keep that maximised. It felt a little weird being sent out into the sea yet without having had a hint of how to turn - though, and perhaps my instructor knew so all too well, the point that that might become relevant was more practice away than I perhaps had realized. Kites were duly adapted according to changing conditions as well as momentary skill. Equipment was appropriate, in good condition, and not more fancy/new than necessary for a school. School facilities might appear a little basic for those expecting showers and separate dressing rooms, there's only one at the local residence, while a van (or your own car/bike) will take you to the beach area. It was a great service to a single traveller like me to be able to rent a bike or keep the wetsuit on a windless day for other activities. Last but not least: the instructors are professional, fun guys that know very well what they're doing while at the same time keeping a clear ear to what a student - sometimes one that only stays for a day - desires or requires. Very good school, highly recommendable.

Toda la instrucción (3 días) fue muy bien. Aldo ha sido profesional, muy paciente y una de esas personas con las que puedes hablar de cualquier cosa. Hasta que no hubo 3 días de viento seguido no dimos las clases, se asegura de que sea así para aprender mejor y más rápido. Sin duda se lo recomiendo a cualquiera que quiera aprender kitesurf.

Mi novia y yo hicimos el curso con Aldo en su escuela Epic Lanzarote, nos los pasamos muy bien los tres días, aprendimos muy bien a manejar la cometa y en el agua fue una experiencia única, Aldo es un gran profesional, se interesa mucho en que disfrutes y aprendas, un tío muy simpático, sin duda lo recomiendo para todo aquel que vaya a la caleta de Famara en Lanzarote
