Sail was a great instructor and role model throughout the course. He had the perfect balance of being chill and approachable while still keeping the training educational and focused. I really appreciated his realistic approach to instruction, especially how he connected the training content to everyday situations and real-life instructor responsibilities. His planning for the live student practice sessions was also very strong and helped create a productive learning environment. I also appreciated that Sail was open to learning from his students. He understood that people who get into kitesurfing may come from interesting backgrounds, including safety-related experience, and that those perspectives can help us become better instructors. It created a learning environment where everyone could share knowledge and learn from each other. Overall, Sail set a great example for someone like me who hopes to do this same job in the future.

I knew what to expect in the classroom because the exams prepared us for the all the material. The real value of the assistant course was learning on the beach with our trainer, Sail. I picked up some great ideas from this course and the highlight was learning the boat rescue. I learned a lot and will be a safer instructor, highly recommend this course.

I just completed my IKO Instructor Training Course/ assistant course, and it was one of the best learning experiences I’ve ever had. The course was hosted by a highly professional and well-organized kite school that truly set the standard for excellence. From day one, everything ran smoothly, and the focus on safety, structure, and clear communication was evident throughout. Our examiner, Bart Miller, and assistant trainer, Sail Schechter, were outstanding. Both brought an incredible depth of knowledge and experience, and they created a supportive, challenging, and inspiring learning environment. Their attention to detail, constructive feedback, and passion for teaching made all the difference. They not only taught us how to instruct safely and effectively but also demonstrated exactly what great instruction looks like in action. I walked away from this course with a much stronger understanding of how to teach kiteboarding the right way—safely, confidently, and professionally. I feel well-prepared and truly excited to start sharing this amazing sport with others.

Both examiners were very awesome. I didn't want Bart Miller to leave back to SoCal 😭 😔 but I definitely will be visiting him there maybe even working for him. Great structure 👍
