Yes, you can renew or upgrade your plan before the expiry day to get insured.
If you leave your membership expired for more than 2 years, you will have to attend an Instructor Equivalency Course (IEC) to be reactivated. The IEC is a 3 day course designed to bring you up-to-date with the new techniques and teaching methodology developed at IKO in the last 2 years.
If you leave your membership expired for more than 9 months, you will have to pass an online exam corresponding to your certification level with a score higher than 70% to be able to renew. Late fees will apply on top of the membership renewal.
If you leave your membership expired for more than 2 months, you will have to pay late fees of $40 USD on top of your membership. Late fees encourage members to renew on time and cover additional administrative work involved in late renewals. The late fee will extend your membership by one year after the payment date where as the regular membership renewal extends your membership by one year after the current expiry date.
From the day that your membership expires, you are no longer recognized as an IKO Instructor which means that you lose your license to teach and all the benefits associated with being a member of IKO including insurance coverage..
Next time that you renew your membership, choose “Automatic renewal with Paypal”. This will enable a recurring payment every year on your expiry date. Make sure that your Paypal account has funds.
You can pay with a credit card, bank transfer, or PayPal.
For Assistants, the Basic plan is $59.90 USD per year, the Plus plan The Basic plan for the Assistant membership is $59,90 USD while the Basic plan for the Instructor membership is $69,90 USD. The Premium plans start at $149.90 and give you access to exclusive IKO insurance, more content, benefits and privileges within IKO. If you’re not sure you want to go Premium, try some of the additional benefits first with the Plus plans starting at $119,90 per year and the Premium plan is $149.90 per year.
Log in to your account on the IKO website to find your expiry date on the homepage of your profile. Renew before your expiry date to avoid losing your licence to teach and all the benefits of being an IKO Assistant/Instructor.
IKO Instructors who have a membership expired for longer than 9 months, must pass the eCourse equivalent to their Instructor level and achieve 70% of correct answers.
You must then contact us and let us know what membership plan you want to renew to (Basic, Plus or Premium) and your preferred payment method (Paypal, bank transfer or credit card).

This could mean your IKO Membership has expired or some information is missing from your Instructor account.
To renew your IKO Instructor Membership, log into your account and select "Renew / Upgrade".
You can see your IKO ID:
- On your vCard
- On the homepage of your account on the IKO website
- Below your name next to your profile picture on your account page on the website

Certification is an automatic process yet it might take a few days until the IKO receives the results of your training, which are necessary to validate your new qualification. You should receive a confirmation message in "My Message" section located in your account within a few days.In case a course or eCourse is still missing after a week, please send a message using the help topic "You Are a Member".
You can check your membership status at any time by logging into your account and checking the expiration date on the homepage in the section named, "My Account." Members also start receiving membership renewal reminders 60 days before the membership expiry date.
At the end of your membership period, log into your account and click "Renew / Upgrade" then pay your annual membership fee.
The IKO no longer works with the physical members cards. If you lost your old IKO Member Card then you can always access your vCard on the IKO App.If your Instructor didn’t certify you online, and thus you don’t have a vCard, please contact us by sending a message to ‘You Are a Member’ via the website.
