Aus welchem Material ist ein Kite gemacht?

Riding Tips
07 Jun 2019

The keys to success for kite producers are twofold: lightweight and durable. Various materials have been tried over the years, but polyester remains the most widely used material as it is resistant to all the harsh conditions your kite is exposed to. Every time you go kiting, your kite is parked in the sand, where sun and wind damage it. Then he will hit the water every time you try a new trick.

The front tube is usually made of Dacron, which is a trademark of polyester. Some years ago, polyesters were used which were susceptible to cracking until a lightweight and high-strength polyester known as T9600 was invented. Most kite manufacturers use this material now. Few companies use another material called Dacron Weave 4-Directional Laminate. It's as light and durable as the T9600, but less popular with kite makers because it's harder to weave.

No matter which material, what matters is that you care for your kite. Do not leave it lying in the sun too long, do not brush the sand off the front tube while your kite is still wet and let it dry completely before you pack it away.

These simple tips extend the life of your kite!
