Become a Snowkite Instructor

The IKO offers a reliable and professional training program

New Snowkite instructors become IKO certified by attending the 5 day Instructor Training Course (ITC) or existing IKO water-certified instructors can participate in a shorter Instructor Equivalency Course (IEC) which last 3 days.

IKO certification is recognized by the international kiting community as the standard in teaching. At the end of your training you will have developed abilities in the following major areas; safety, practical environment, analysis, technique, teaching psychology and live situation. Successful completion of your course qualifies you as a Level 1 Snowkite Instructor and you will be able to continue to advance in your professional training.

At the end of the training, you will have developed abilities in the following major areas: safety, practical environment, analysis, technique, teaching psychology and live situation. After attending an ITC and having reached the required level, you will be qualified as IKO Instructor level 1 and will be able to continue your pro training.

Instructor Level 1 prerequisites

Candidates to an ITC Level 1 must:
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Snowkiting for at least 1 year and be a certified IKO snowkiter level 3N minimum for a minimum of 6 months (jumping and riding toe side). Perform level 3n skills on demand in all wind conditions from 10-30 knots.
  • Provide a letter of recommendation attesting of teaching experience in a skiing sport
  • Have a valid first aid and CPR certificate or complete it before the ITC with the IKO Examiner running the course
  • Know how to ski or snowboard
  • Have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to read and write and speak fluently in the language the course is given
  • Sign the waiver form.

How to enroll in a course?

Make sure you meet the prerequisites and have the necessary documents. Check the Training Calendar now for ITCs happening soon in your area, then download, fill in and sign the Snow ITC candidate waiver form or Snow IEC candidate waiver form and send along with the supporting documents to the ITC organizer.
